preparing for the trip - two weeks to go

I've talked to a dozen people, have several others on the line to talk to, and hope, by the time I get to Eastern Congo to have an itinerary that will find us good partners, help me to understand the situation better, and put the Institute in a position to be helpful in that situation.

I'll be traveling to Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Congo in August. I'll keep you posted.

First blog

I will post here my overseas experiences and reflections on them. Some of these will be archival posts from past trips including the 6 months in Iraq, others will be from trips I take in the future. Some will be simple human interest pieces while others will be more reflective and issues-oriented.

I hope that all of the posts promote the common humanity we all experience.
